Renovations
at
the
Webster
Fire
Station
are
well
underway.
New
bathrooms,
barrier
free access, and a lift, being installed in the tower, between the
first and second floors should be completed by the end of October.
After a good “fire hall” cleaning the historical collections, now being
packed up at the Churchill School Museum, will be ready to fill their
new space at the station.
To
view pre-construction photos of the station go to “Northwood Fire
Station” . Scroll to the bottom of the page.

Expanding
our
Collections
New
items keep coming in at the Churchill Museum. Descendants of several
pioneer families have responded generously to our “Scrapbook Project”
promoted on the ROHS web page. Prompted by our appeal for materials
related to early Royal Oak families, Betty Hawkins Emmert of Bloomfield
Hills, and Jean Blodgett of Farmington, brought us a wealth of
family photos and documents. We now have a good start on building up
our Royal Oak family archives, new material on the Benjamin, Parker,
Hawkins and Blodgett families, to mention only a few, will keep us busy
cataloguing and researching for weeks. Photos, manuscripts, diaries,
legal documents and a bundle of personal letters written between the
early to late 1800's, (between Blodgett, Parker, and Benjamin family
members) are being transcribed, scanned, preserved and archived by
museum volunteers.
Based
on this new material we have begun to construct a genealogy of Royal
Oak’s earliest pioneer families.
